Daniel explains that the despicable leader will transform the relationship between the United States and the ruling powers of Israel. He will probably make this change because an extremely right-wing government in Israel is openly implementing apartheid policies against the Palestinian people. The political leader of Israel is called the prince of the covenant (ie the covenant people who have gained a place by political and military power).
The ruler of the covenant will also be broken. After an alliance is made with him, he will practice deception, and he will go up and be staunch with a small nation (Dan 11:22-23).Benjamin Netanyahu is currently forming a new government in Israel. A group of political parties that support the ethnic cleansing of the nation. The best word to describe their beliefs is "apartheid". President Netanyahu will pretend that nothing has changed and that Israel under his leadership will continue to be a liberal democratic nation. This could be the deception that Daniel says will be praticed.
Netanyahu will try to persuade Americans that he still deserves their support, even though he is moving in the opposite direction to retain power. Daniel says that he will be "staunch with a small nation". In the land of Palestine, the Jewish people are now a minority, ie a small nation. But they will do a deal with the President of the United States so that they can rule the nation and oppress the Palestinian people who oppose them.
Daniel warns that the consequence will be serious.
He will come with ease into the richest regions of the territory and do what his fathers and forefathers never did. He will lavish plunder, loot, and wealth on his followers, and he will make plans against fortified cities, but only for a time (Dan 11:24).This leader will seize Gaza to get control of the off-shore oil reserves that are claimed by the Palestinians. He will annex the remainder of the land on the West Bank. This action might be agreed as part of a coalition agreement to gain the support of the right-wing parties. He will give wealth to his key political supporters. His predecessors have all tried to do this, but they all failed. He will also attack and destroy the weapons of the various groups in Gaza (fortresses). He might even attack bases in Syria and Lebanon.
