The Old
Testament is full of prophecies about the time when the Lord will establish his Kingdom.
One example is Habakkuk 2:14:
The earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover
the sea.
This is a tremendous prophecy. The Lord is saying that the time will come when his
glory will be present in every part of the earth. There will be no place in the world,
where his name is not honoured and glorified. He will be victorious through the entire
world. All things will be brought into submission to him as the kingdom of God is extended
throughout the earth.
The prophet Micah spoke of the glory of the kingdom of God. He described it as a time
of great blessing.
They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war
any more. Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one
will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken. Mic 4:3,4
The coming of the Kingdom will bring peace to the whole earth. Men will not even need
to prepare or plan for war. Every person will have an abundance of the fruit of the earth.
No one will be poor, and there will be no need to fear. This will truly be a golden age, a
time of great blessing on the earth.
